Since the beginning of time sages and physicians have known of the miraculous healing properties found in certain cereal grasses and grains. They had an intrinsic wisdom about their ability to nourish the body due to the fact that they contain almost every vitamin, mineral, enzyme and phytonutrient required for sustaining life. The two most legendary grains with tremendous biblical support to back up their healing ability are wheat and barley. Millions of people throughout history have experienced the blessings of great health by consuming these grains on a regular basis.
Today, more and more people realize that they must do something to either maintain good health or restore lost health. Many of the latest health reports say that we must eat more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and good fats. However, our lifestyles have become so hectic that it's very difficult to take the time out of our schedules to eat right. We're all on the run with our daily routine with little to no time left over to prepare good meals. Many live away from big cities where it's not convenient to eat at good restaurants or get to a health food store and buy organic products. In light of this, we resort to eating foods that we know we shouldn't and our bodies are literally starving for better nutrition.
If you're looking to change the nutritional deficiencies you're suffering from, perhaps it's time you considered adding wheat grass and barley grass to your daily diet, as well as more whole grain wheat and barley products. The ancients knew that every aspect of these two grains offer tremendous health benefits. Some of the most powerful, however, come in their early stage of growth where they are in the form of blades of grass. Wheat grass and barley grass can fuel the body with the some of the highest amounts of chlorophyll found anywhere in nature. The beauty about wheat grass and barley grass is that it takes very little time out of your day to incorporate them into your diet. All you need to do is mix a few teaspoons into a drink and you'll provide your body with tremendous nutrition. The truth is these two grasses alone could serve as our sole nutritional support from birth to death if that were all we had to live on. Let's take a closer look at these two important grains and their importance in maintaining optimum health.
Kamut
Kamut is a nutritional grain that has more protein and minerals than common wheat or other cereal grass. Green Kamut is an Organic Food. It is a vital source of Phytochemical Elements. It is Designed by Nature as a Catalyst to Balance the Human Body.
- It assists the body's essential life - regulating pH balance.
- It stimulates the body's natural cleansing and detoxifying.
- It contributes to cell and tissue growth.
Kamut is generally regarded as a grain that is the purest, and therefore, least allergy-inducing wheat on the market. Kamut is a strain of wheat that was brought to the United States as a non-hybrid seed. It has remained non-hybrid, which is the reason for its exceptionally high nutritional value.
Wheat
Of all the foods mentioned in the Bible, assuredly none holds a higher position of importance than wheat. Both the Bible and archaeology show that wheat was one of the main staple foods of ancient times and some form of it was probably eaten at every meal. In fact, historians claim that wheat was the earliest crop ever harvested by the human race with evidence of wheat farming along the Nile River dating back as far as 4,000 B.C. The biblical feast day of Pentecost, also known as the Festival of Weeks, or Shavuot, was held in celebration of the spring wheat harvest.
Nutritionally, wheat does seem to contain it all. It is an excellent source of protein, fat, and carbohydrates as well as vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Wheat truly is a special gift and should be considered for good health.
"15 LBS. of wheat grass is equal in overall nutritional value to 350 LBS. of ordinary vegetables. We have not even scratched the surface of what grass can mean to man in the future." (1) - Charles F. Schnabel
"The grain of grass contains all the elements of which the body is composed including revitalizing and rebuilding materials, force producers for energy and also the eliminators of waste acids. Grass and sprouts are perfect foods." (1) - Dr. Ann Wigmore
Barley
Barley, like wheat, is a highly nutritious grain and is mentioned close to 40 times in the Bible. In ancient Israel, its growing season and harvest actually came before wheat and it was the first crop of the year.
Like wheat, barley is also an excellent source of protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. According to ancient Oriental wisdom, barley is good for the spleen and stomach, helps promote normal urinary flow, and like wheat, helps in the cooling process of the body.
Human Blood And Chlorophyll Are Almost Identical structurally. The reason why chlorophyll is so beneficial to our health is due to the fact that it is almost identical to human blood. There is only one difference between hemoglobin and chlorophyll. Hemoglobin is built around iron, and chlorophyll is built around magnesium. It's my belief that our blood and the blood of plants (chlorophyll) would be identical. It's the perfect symbiotic relationship between man and the plants. All life is dependent upon each other. Plants give us oxygen, we give them carbon dioxide and our sole source of nutrition comes from the chlorophyll found in all plant life.
"Chlorophyll, which is the green pigment found in the plant cells, is essential to the process of photosynthesis. Simply put, chlorophyll is the substance that fuels life on earth; without it, there would be no plants and thus, no oxygen. Chlorophyll's structure has been found to be almost identical to the structure of hemoglobin, a vital component within human blood. The most obvious difference between the two is that the structure of chlorophyll is based around magnesium, while hemoglobin is arranged around iron. Some scientists have hypothesized that the blood in animals is made in almost the same way as chlorophyll is made in plants. This could mean that when chlorophyll is introduced into the system, it could allow the blood to, among many other things, deliver more oxygen to the body and 'build' blood in those systems that are weakened by disease and toxins."(2)
Wheat, Barley, and Kamut Grasses- This is food for the brain. These are the Vitamin/Mineral herbs. They are mildly cleansing and the greatest sources of nutrition of any grasses. Grain grasses are more potent than the grains themselves, offering us a rich array of vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. Alfalfa is one of the most mineral-rich foods known. Alfalfa has roots that grow as much as 130 feet into the earth. It contains calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, plus ALL known vitamins. The minerals are in a balanced form which promotes absorption. These minerals are all ALKALINE, but have a neutralizing effect on the intestinal tract. Barley is high in calcium, iron, all the essential amino acids, chlorophyll, flavanoids, vitamin B-12, Vitamin C, and many minerals, plus enzymes. Kamut wheatgrass contains a variety of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. According to Dr. Ann Wigmore, an educator and founder of the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, 1 pound of fresh wheat grass is equal in nutritional value to nearly 25 pounds of the choicest vegetables.
